Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers is a journal for seekers of untamed edges, the imperfect and the meaningful. It’s a paean to the natural world, where the heart meets the earth. It’s for those who find feral beauty and mystery in nature, searching for the small to make sense of the vast, one tiny thrill at a time. This is a place about: Seeing stories in the constellations Being out in the elements, feeling the wind on your skin Finding bones, feathers, and nests Fireside wonderings and the flicker of a hearth Following mist-filled paths that look like portals Home as a haven Finding comfort in a cup of tea and peace from the sound of rain Exploring fragile inner landscapes Searching for ivy-covered corners Art as curiosity Making to soothe Music as tincture and salve Feeling your skin tingle when the night clouds dissipate enough to see the perfect crescent of a storybook moon Finding golden evening light filtered through paper-thin petals Hearing tawny owls, catching a glimpse of a raven and seeing a kingfisher for the first time Breathing in the scent of pine woods, lichen and wood smoke Chalk streams and bluebells Vespertine stillness Why subscribe? Here you’ll be able to discover ways of deepening your relationship to the natural world, by finding your own meaning in the essence of each season. This is a place where your senses can engage in the subtle shifts that each month brings. There are rituals and offerings to the earth, poems, reflections and observations, guides, stories, card readings, celebrations and quiet contemplation. You’ll also find connection with other kindred souls. This is all explored through writing, soundscapes, art and little vignettes of photos and film. Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers is free to subscribe, and you’ll receive two to three journal entries a month, which go directly to you, either to your inbox or to the app. You’ll also have access to a two-year archive. Why Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers? Nature is the thread that weaves itself through this journal, literally and metaphorically. Seeds contain hidden alchemy, beginning in darkness and growing upwards and outwards in their own time. Weeds are the edge-dwellers, overlooked or ushered out, yet quietly potent. Wildflowers are resilient. They bloom where they’re sown and thrive in unexpected places. Who am I? I’m Jo, a forest wanderer, twilight dweller, musician, gardener, grower and maker. I live in the south of the UK. I feel most at home in the woods, surrounded by trees and ivy boughs. Or with my hands in the soil tending to the garden, growing food and flowers. I’ve been living and breathing this way of life for more than thirty years, deepening my connection to nature with every year that passes. My own experience has shown me that the natural world is full of wisdom. When we find moments of awareness to engage our senses and be inquisitive, we begin to learn what it can teach us about life. I’d love you to join me as we walk a gentle path together, sharing the earth’s gifts and honouring it in return.
Thank you for reading, it’s good to have you here.
