Making a written and visual note of things which are currently making me happy. For when the darker, colder months roll around and I need reminding that summer will return.
The race to eat ice cream outdoors before it turns into a milkshake. Two pints of cider that go straight to my head. Playing guitar outside with friends. Endless loads of washing that dry in less than an hour and make me almost enjoy chores. Watering my herbs and feeling inordinately happy that I’ve managed not to kill them. Finding the last of the foxgloves in a hidden glade. Elderflower everything (now ready after a couple of weeks of steeping). Green everywhere. Breeze on bare skin. Cold showers. The thinnest cotton. The daily, heady smell of roses as I walk past a fence overflowing with them. Lying on the grass (and being bitten by bugs, but not caring). Conversations and music being carried through the air.
