Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers is a journal where the natural world meets hearth and home, and the making that happens in between. It’s a place for seekers of untamed edges, the imperfect and the meaningful, explored through writing, photography, crafts, watercolour, poetry and music.
What it’s about
Seeing stories in the constellations Being out in the elements, feeling the wind on your skin Finding bones, feathers, and nests Fireside wonderings Finding comfort in a cup of tea and peace from the sound of rain Searching for ivy-covered corners Art as curiosity Making to soothe Music as tincture and salve Feeling your skin tingle when the night clouds dissipate enough so that you can see the perfect crescent of a storybook moon Exploring the fragile inner places Home as a haven Hearing tawny owls, catching a glimpse of a raven and seeing a kingfisher for the first time Personal stories, reflections and observations Breathing in the scent of pine woods, lichen and wood smoke Quiet contemplation Chalk streams and bluebells Finding meaning in the rhythms of each season as the year rolls through the changing landscapes Vespertine stillness It’s where the heart meets the earth I’m Jo, a musician, photographer, maker and nature lover. I’m also autistic. I created Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers as a way of making sense of the world. By looking more deeply I find that I can see more clearly – catching glimmers of wonder and joy that can feel so fleeting amongst the turmoil and busyness of life. My hope is that this becomes a place where others might also find the same. Why subscribe? Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers is free to subscribe and read and I post two to three times a month. Everything I write can be found on the homepage or in the archive. But by subscribing, each new post goes directly to you, either to your inbox or to the app. It’s also a way of supporting my work more meaningfully. Thank you for reading.
Wow. You know that feeling you get when your hair caresses your arm or the back of your neck? That's what it felt like reading this post. So beautiful.
